Double deck lifts and scissor lifts to service new fleet of fixed double deck trailers
Established in 1847, Booths is the last independent supermarket chain in England, with 29 stores across Lancashire, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. Often referred to as ‘Waitrose of the North’ the company focuses on quality as opposed to just price. Its northern Bluebell distribution centre is based at Preston.
Transdek installed three double deck lifts and a bespoke scissor lift at Booths’ ambient/ frozen DC’s and two of its stores. The lifts featured a mix of inflatable and retractable dock shelters and roller shutter doors. The scissor lift was fitted internally, with interlocked safety gates, external dock furniture, and 90o un/load configuration due to space restrictions.
Transdek’s double deck and scissor lifts have provided fast loading speeds that enable Booths to maximise the use of its new double deck trailers – saving up to 40% on delivery miles, CO2 emissions and costs – at the same time as servicing all other vehicle types at its DC and stores. The two store lifts provide a safer, faster alternative to taillift unloading.
