10 double deck lifts to enable loading of new, high-capacity wedge double deck trailer fleet
Nisa is a unique member-owned organisation, serving independent food retailers across the whole of the UK and Ireland. The group represents over 1,300 registered shareholders operating over 3,000 stores. Nisa’s network dispatches over 2.7 million cases per week across the UK, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands.
Transdek was asked to install a total of 10 double deck lifts – 5-, 6- and 13-pallet models – across five of Nisa’s ambient and temperature-controlled distribution centres. The lifts support Nisa DHL’s high-volume loading on major trunking runs. Each lift was fitted with a bi-fold bridge plate to enable safer and more secure opening of trailer rear doors after docking.
The lifts enabled Nisa DHL to introduce an initial ten wedge double deckers – with a saving of 1,300 trunks, 820,000 kilometres and 730,000 kg CO2 p.a. compared to their powered double decks – and have also allowed the later introduction of refrigerated wedge trailers. Driver safety and load security have been improved with the capability to dock before opening vehicle doors.
