12.5-tonne double deck lifts fitted internally at new-build DC, with modular 900mm loading ramps for faster loading
Since opening its first store in 1990, the high street value retailer Poundland has built a network of almost 850 stores in the UK and Eire. The company employs over 18,000 colleagues serving over seven million customers every week from Wick to Weymouth, Londonderry to Lowestoft and Holyhead to Hastings.
Poundland commissioned Transdek to supply and fit five 13-pallet double deck lifts at its new Wigan distribution centre. To maximise internal warehouse space, the modular lifts were installed internally in to precast ‘slots’ in concrete base. Transdek also worked with the architects to develop a 900mm modular ramp down to each double deck bay.
Transdek’s modular lifts and 900mm loading ramps were each fitted in to precast slots, within a two-day window, maximising build efficiency. The lifts load Poundland’s wedge double deck trailers in just two lift cycles, with a straight run-through on to the bottom deck, in just 30-45 minutes. They also service the company’s low-height urban double deckers.
