Modular dock leveller pods fitted at Grade II listed distribution centre – with dock extensions under low canopy
Thomas Ridley Foodservice provides a total solution for the catering industry, delivering a range of chilled, ambient and frozen products locally and nationally to pubs, restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, schools and leisure facilities. To support continued growth, the company aimed to enhance loading and storage capacity at its Bury St Edmunds NDC.
Transdek designed a modular warehouse extension for the level-access NDC, with a single doorway expanded to three bays. Three 5-Pallet V2G Yard Lifts were also specified to load new fixed double deck trailers and rigids to ground level. The surface-mounted extension and V2G lifts were fitted with composite panel doors, sealed to the main warehouse and insulated to a high specification.
Thomas Ridley gained two additional temperature-controlled loading bays and the ability to quickly and safely load all of its goods vehicles. The entire project was finished in under 4 days, enabling the company to introduce double deck trunking, which has saved over 157,000 miles, 190,000 kg CO2 and £200,000 p.a.
