Transdek UK Achieve EN 1090 Accreditation
Doncaster based Transdek UK, experts in the manufacture of specialist modular loading bay equipment, are pleased to announce that they have gained EN 1090 Accreditation, the quality system specifically for structural/construction steel and aluminium products.
EN 1090 ensures that all structural steel systems manufactured by Transdek meet the legal requirements of UKCA and CE marks necessary for UK and European markets. The accreditation will dovetail with the company’s current Quality Management Systems (QMS), in particular ISO 9001 which the company has held since 2012, to ensure that their products are manufactured consistently to the highest possible standards.
Work towards achieving the standard commenced in April 2022 with the formation of a specialist team to write the policy and then embed the standard ready for an independent audit. Emphasis was placed on the company’s welding procedures and processes to ensure that each weld undertaken was to the correct specification and standard, with the welding team all having to hold a current welding qualification and undertake ongoing training and testing. In some instances, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) was carried out to further ensure high quality standards.
Amy Kinsella, Transdek’s Quality Manager comments “Looking back it was a little daunting due to the size of the task, but we were confident that we already had the correct skills and systems in place within the company. It really was a case of getting a focused team together to formalise and document our procedures and processes whilst being aware of how it could add value to the products we manufacture.”
The award of EN 1090 is also particularly relevant at this time as Transdek UK are now actively expanding their operations within the European market, a move made possible since their acquisition by the Hörmann Group in 2021.

Ultimately, the accreditation is good for Transdek and our customers. It has created formalised manufacturing standards which provide the assurance that our products meet all the necessary legal requirements, whilst being robust in their construction and offering a high quality, long-term solution for loading bay operations.”
